Creative
Thinking Strategy 8: Find What You’re Not Looking For
When you ignore the
unexpected, you miss opportunities for creativity. Giving yourself the freedom
to find what you’re not looking for will help you avoid missing such
opportunities. Geniuses will often recycle ideas and transform them into
something else. Imagineering is a
creative thinking technique that has you think about your problem in absurd
ways in order to extract the principle behind those crazy ideas. This principle
can then be used to reframe or refocus your problem.
Absurd Ideas related to marketing ideas
or benefits to joining:

learned, identified solutions:
· Principle: Need attention grabbing marketing that
highlights unique benefits of CAPs
·
Usable ideas after completing this creative thinking technique:
o Every
training (9:30 on Tuesdays) have breakfast for the mentors
o Instead of puppies, give mentors employee
discounts to Rising Roll
o
Huge
poster on Heavener Hall or Chalk drawings/writings in front of all the entrances
to the building
o
Marketing
photo contest among CAPs (i.e. memes, epic national geographic type photos,
whatever it is to attract more people to apply). Winner gets a gift card, a
free pass to miss a meeting, two days of paid time-off. This photo contest
would also raise some thoughts about the overall theme for that recruitment
season
o Offer a prize to the mentor
who gets the most people to apply.
