Creative Thinking Strategy 7: Looking into Other Worlds
The ability to compare and contrast things in “other worlds” can be a useful tool when trying to generate fresh ideas. An idea from one world is used to create a new idea or creative solution to a problem in another world. Geniuses can make connections between subjects in different worlds because they have an eye for cues between subjects. The Parallel Worlds technique helps draw these connections by listing and then associating different aspects of different worlds.

Parallel Worlds
Challenge: How do CAPs get more qualified applicants

Results, lessons learned, identified solutions:
Drawing connections between these completely different worlds was hard. I came up with some wacky and some more practical ideas:
1. Have a game of thrones scavenger hunt/adventure of some sort to boost interest
            2. Free Pizza. Classic.
3. Use space as a theme for recruitment (i.e. all flyers and posters are space themed, and maybe there’s a slogan like “reach for the stars”)
4. Wall Street is prestigious, which had me think about marketing the whole recruitment process around the idea of prestige (i.e. Blue Key). Also, reach out to all presidents of students organizations.
5. Have an event at a park
            6. Parks reminded me of dogs. Flyer with puppies to draw attention
8. In general, always have mentors speak with excitement when describing CAPs. Enthusiasm is contagious!
9. Game of Thronesà allegiances. Participate in a charity event with other clubs, or hold a joint meeting or event with a related club such as Warrington Diplomats
10. New YorkàFame/Success. Publicize any awards mentors have won. People want to join groups that are successful.

Some of these ideas are more practical than others but all-in-all these are good ideas we could potentially implement to get the word out there and to also increase brand recognition.
